Rage the Gentle Giant

Rage

I was pet-sitting a very sweet doggy at my house two nights ago. The furries were not very happy having another dog here, though; we had to keep Sookie and the cats in different rooms, as we didn't trust having this big dog around our much smaller animals. However, even behind the baby gate Sookie was acting much more aggressive towards Rage (the other dog) than she was with Sookie. Rage just appeared to want to play with her, while Sookie kept barking warningly and growling. Even though she is tiny, Sookie can be one tough cookie and understandably doesn't like strange animals- particularly other dogs- in her house.

Unlike the furbabies, the humans of the house LOVED having Rage here. Contrary to her name, she is a sweetheart and was so well behaved. She slept with my brother for the first half of the night, and then with me. She must have thought she was much smaller than she really was, as she would sometimes try to lay down on top of us!

It goes without saying that we were sad to see her go the next day. We managed to get some adorable pictures of her, including the one I captured above. She is holding a toy bone in her mouth, which she carried with her practically the entire time she was here after finding it lying around our house. It originally belonged to Sookie, but because she no longer plays with it and Rage seemed to love it so much we ended up letting her take it home with her.

Oh, and I also forgot to mention that she is a service dog in-training for her daddy.

  1. She's a cutie :) My 50 lb dog also thinks she's a lap dog and she's quite the bed hog!

  2. Her name cracks me up. Isn't always the big dogs with the tough names that are the sweetest :)

  3. It is strange how the big, scary looking dogs are just teddy bears and the cute little dogs are Nepoleonic little monsters, LOL.

  6. We can understand why the little animals might be uncomfortable around Rage, but she must be sweet if she is a service dog. A different name might suit her better?
