National Coffee Day
Source: http://theselby.com/galleries/coffee-supreme/ |
Today is National Coffee Day! Our area is offering free small hot or iced coffees at Dunkin' Donuts- I've already had two iced pumpkins from there today! I don't usually drink that much coffee, but I like to take advantage of anything that is free. :)
Even Cedric is a fan of National Coffee Day! Here he is relaxing with a mini Dunkin' Donuts cup ornament in honor of the occasion:

Oliver the Albino(?) Cat
I have been pet sitting a gorgeous white cat named Oliver since Monday (Today was my last day, unfortunately). He is such a sweetheart! Oliver is said to be a Siberian, and I am thinking that he may be Albino as well because of his light blue eyes and the fact that his pupils appear to be a reddish color. However, I can't be sure if that alone means that he is indeed Albino.
Anyhow, here is a video I captured of Oliver today. He was moving around a lot so it was difficult to keep up with him. :)

Remember Me Thursday
As many of you are probably aware of, today is Remember Me Thursday. It is a day where we honor and remember all the pets that were never able to find their forever homes. Millions of perfectly healthy and adoptable cats and dogs are euthanized each year, which is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.
If everyone chose to adopt rather than purchase a pet from a pet store or breeder, think about all the innocent lives that could be saved. Spaying and neutering your pet also can greatly reduce the very high number of unwanted animals.
You can light a virtual candle in honor of Remember Me Thursday by visiting this page.

Bath Time
I gave Sookie a bath tonight, which she was not very happy about. She is not really one for being put in a tub and having water poured down all over her. I tried to get a decent picture of her in there, but she wanted to get out of the tub so badly and was moving around so much that this was the best I could do:
When she gets a bath she has to have a prescription shampoo rubbed onto her skin that helps to get rid of her acne. It has to be left on her for around ten minutes, so her bath lasts a bit longer than a normal dog's which of course does not help matters at all. Sookie has to stay in the bathroom while the shampoo sets into her skin as she'll rub the shampoo all over the carpet and furniture if I let her roam around. She dislikes this just as much as the bath itself- actually probably even more.
"When can I get out of here, mom??"
|
However, once I let her out the door after I've washed off the shampoo and dried her, she gets so excited and just goes insane! Here is the video I captured of her on the bed right after she was finished her bath (Sorry for the loud singing in the background, I think The Voice was on the TV at the time):

Wordy Wednesday
Sherbet was finally neutered several days ago, but you would never be able to tell that he recently had surgery just by looking at him. We thought that once he was neutered he would not act as crazy and try to attack play with people so much, but that theory died immediately when my brother brought him to our house yesterday (which was our first time seeing him after his surgery). I've already received a few bite marks on my hands and arms, but none that have broken skin- YET.
Despite his sometimes psychotic behavior we did miss him terribly while he was gone, though, as he brings a lot of laughter and fun to our home. In the pictures below, he is being his usual entertaining little self and demonstrating how to play with a toy mouse in a step-by-step fashion.
Step one: Find a toy.
Step two: Focus on the toy and reach out for it.
Step three: Grab the toy and look around to make sure no one is going to steal it from you.
Step four: Kill it!

Rage the Gentle Giant
Rage |
I was pet-sitting a very sweet doggy at my house two nights ago. The furries were not very happy having another dog here, though; we had to keep Sookie and the cats in different rooms, as we didn't trust having this big dog around our much smaller animals. However, even behind the baby gate Sookie was acting much more aggressive towards Rage (the other dog) than she was with Sookie. Rage just appeared to want to play with her, while Sookie kept barking warningly and growling. Even though she is tiny, Sookie can be one tough cookie and understandably doesn't like strange animals- particularly other dogs- in her house.
Unlike the furbabies, the humans of the house LOVED having Rage here. Contrary to her name, she is a sweetheart and was so well behaved. She slept with my brother for the first half of the night, and then with me. She must have thought she was much smaller than she really was, as she would sometimes try to lay down on top of us!
It goes without saying that we were sad to see her go the next day. We managed to get some adorable pictures of her, including the one I captured above. She is holding a toy bone in her mouth, which she carried with her practically the entire time she was here after finding it lying around our house. It originally belonged to Sookie, but because she no longer plays with it and Rage seemed to love it so much we ended up letting her take it home with her.
Oh, and I also forgot to mention that she is a service dog in-training for her daddy.

Finally starting to feel like fall outside...
It is much cooler today than it has been in a while- ok, more like forever. I love it and am relieved the heat wave is finally going away, although our Stray doesn't seem to mind hot weather at all. Yesterday (when it felt like 100 degrees out) she was happily basking in the warm rays of the sun.
I also included the dog version, which is just as funny!
However, the heat did seem to make her a bit tired...
On an unrelated note, I also found a hilarious video called Sad Cat Diary by zefrank1. It describes the sad thoughts of cats- though trust me, the video is not depressing at all! I also included the dog version, which is just as funny!

Yay an award!
This was supposed to be a Wordless Wednesday post, but then I visited the kitties at Fur Everywhere and found that they awarded us with the Wonderful Team Membership Leadership Award! I feel very happy and honored that they thought of us. Thanks so much, guys! (If you haven't already heard of them, I recommend that you check them out).
I think I'm supposed to pass it along to 14 other bloggers. However, I've met so many wonderful people that I can't choose just 14! So anyone who doesn't have the award yet can just snag it from here. :)
Also, here is a picture that I was going to originally post for WW of our pretty girl, Miracle. She is Stray's daughter.

Older picture of Sookie
I found a picture that I almost forgot I had of Sookie, which I took soon after we had adopted her. She was just a baby then, about 8 months old. She was also less chubby and a bit less hairy than she is now. Well, of course we had her groomed a number of times since then but she is currently way overdue for another (as I'm sure you all can tell from recent pictures I posted on here). Hopefully we can schedule an appointment some time this month.
She is with her then-favorite toy, which we had just brought for her at the time the picture was taken. Now, she doesn't even touch it- actually I don't think I even know where it is!

Buddies- Muffin and Stray
I let Muffin roam around out of her cage today and captured a cute shot of her and Stray on my bed. Stray always just looks at her like she doesn't know what to make of this furry little creature, but she never tries to go after her.
The sun was shining through the window so the photo is a bit bright and is not exactly the clearest shot, but I think it's still cute.
I also recorded a short video of Muffin in the bathroom. It's so short because I had to stop Sookie from trying to play with her; I was actually more worried about the dog than the guinea pig as I was afraid Muffin was going to bite her snout (and she has a hard bite, I know from experience!)
P.S. Thank you everyone for the well wishes towards my brother. My family has been talking to him, and I think he may also be going to the doctor for extra help in dealing with his issues.

Please pray for my brother.
Hey, everyone. Unfortunately I am feeling pretty down today. It doesn't have to do with me, but with my brother. I can't say why because it is a personal problem, but my brother is feeling very depressed- so much so that I am fearful he will do something drastic. I urge everyone to PLEASE pray for him, that he will come out of his sadness and not allow anyone to stop him from living his life and living it to the fullest.
Again sorry this might not make any sense, it's just a personal issue that he is going through so I can't really go into it any further.
On another happier note, here is a picture of Sookie surrounded by a small fraction of her dozens of toys.

Outside with Stray and Sookie
Today I spent a bit of time hanging out with Stray and Sookie outside in the yard. While it resulted in numerous itchy mosquito bites, I also ended up with some new photos.
My princess.
Just chill-axing.
Sookie and Stray in the dirt. Of course, Sookie had to move just as I was about to take the picture.
I think Stray was giving Sookie a dirty look here because she was bugging her...as usual.
Sniffing through the dirt.
In the middle of a stretch.

Shopping Monday
My sister and I were feeling bored today so we decided to head to the mall. While in Forever 21, I found the cutest shirt. Of course I ended up buying it!
I also came across a silver kitty necklace there that I couldn't pass up, either...
