Howling and peeing :)

Tonight will be my last night pet sitting for Powell and Mimi. They are such sweet dogs- I will miss them a lot (hopefully they'll need me to pet sit for them again soon)!

Whenever someone sings or plays music on an instrument (such as the piano), Powell feels the need to 'sing' along too. He does the same thing when someone howls. Only about 15 minutes ago, I managed to capture a video of him doing just that with me. He is definitely one vocal dog!

In addition, I went with my mom to Barnes & Noble today for some coffee, snacks, and reading. While I was skimming through one magazine, I saw something that made me giggle- a device called Whiz Freedom. It enables a gal to pee just like the guys do. :)

I could definitely see how this would come in handy, though... particularly during lengthy road trips!

Hanging out with Baby (and Sookie)

Today I was resting with Baby in my parents' bedroom (which has also become her room as well), where I managed to capture a few photos of her.

Here she is looking into the camera with her large yellow eyes- they are so big for her tiny face!

This one is a bit blurry because she was moving when I took it, but I love that her little teeth are showing. :)

Sookie was also in the bedroom with us, so I had to add this picture as well. She is giving me that "Get this camera out of my face so I can go to sleep" look.

Pick me up, already!

Mimi waiting for me to lift her onto the bed. After all, her tiny weenie dog legs can't jump up THAT high!

Sookie's trick

Sookie wanted to show everyone a little trick that she has mastered (sorry for the blurry quality again, my phone camera's horrible).

In bed with Powell and Mimi

Once again I am blogging from the bedroom and am joined by Powell, as well as Mimi (Powell's a Vizsla, Mimi's a Dachshund). While Powell has been by my side constantly and has always slept with me from the first night I pet-sat him (which actually was only a few weeks ago), Mimi has gone from somewhat keeping her distance from me to following me around almost as much as her 'brother' does.

In fact, here is a picture I took of them about 15 minutes ago. Mimi was lying down with her head under the covers with Powell, but she awoke while I was taking the picture- though I think the result turned out adorable. And yes, that is Powell curled up under the blanket behind her. :)

And thanks everyone for the well-wishes. I feel a bit better today (at least my nose isn't really running anymore), but I still feel lethargic and out of it which is also due to the fact that I'm still not really sleeping through the night. Well, I'm hoping that tonight will be different.

I hope everyone else also has a great night and a restful sleep!

Feeling crappy today

I haven't been on here much for the past few days as I have been dealing with a pretty bad cold. And I didn't sleep much last night on top of that since my nose has been stuffy and running nonstop (I swear I must have gone through like 100 tissues already!). I hope to take a nap soon or at least go to bed really early tonight.

Today is my first of ten nights of pet sitting as well, so that will keep me busy. Currently I am lying down next to Powell, one of the dogs I am pet sitting for, who is napping and snoring quite loudly- and who I look forward to joining very soon!

I am really tired and need some rest so I will keep it short today, but I'll end it with an adorable picture that I found. I didn't take it, but the dog's elated expression is too cute to resist!

Wordless Wednesday!

I have seen 'Wordless Wednesdays' on quite a few pet blogs and thought that it was a great idea, so I have decided to do it on mine as well! This one is obviously not wordless, but here is a picture of Muffin the Guinea Pig hiding amongst stuffed animals that I took a few years ago (It's still my favorite pic of her!).

Also on an off-topic note, my blog is in a New Blogger Alert post on Pet Blogs United. You can check it out if you like by clicking on the link (though I'm sure that's how some of you found me too). :)

RIP Peach

Today my Aunt Mary Ann's Golden Retriever, Peach, passed away. My Aunt, who is my mom's sister, is mentally retarded and lives with her caregiver and two other women. Peach was a very special doggy, as she alerted everyone when my Aunt had suffered a seizure and might have even saved her life.

They are all extremely distraught. Please pray for all of them to get through this difficult time.

I don't have a photo of her, but I thought this picture was very pretty and represented the fact that she is in peace and is now an angel watching over her humans.

Baby

I just returned from a 2-day trip to Wildwood, New Jersey, and I've been sleeping for basically the entire day. My boyfriend, Bryan had to go to work so we had to wake up at 7:30 this morning (and I am NOT the best morning person).

Right now I am in bed watching TV with Baby the cat. Well, actually I WAS, but then Sookie chased her off the bed. Really she is just being playful, but Baby (along with pretty much all the other cats) gets very annoyed with her and tries to find escape under the bed. She actually stays under the bed quite a lot throughout the day because she is still very nervous of animals (especially our cat, Miracle who for some reason really doesn't like her) as well as people she doesn't know. Well, that's not very surprising considering the fact that she had been living outside as a stray in a neighbor's yard for years. At first, we had just been feeding her as we were reluctant about taking in another cat after having three already. Then Hurricane Sandy hit, and there was no was no way we could keep her outside in such harsh and dangerous weather, so she has been living with us ever since.

Anyhow, here is a video that I shot of her about a month ago. It's not much, just her lying on her back and looking cute. :)

Sherbet's up to no good again...

Sherbet the kitten has been misbehaving yet again. This morning I picked him up, and he bit and clawed my hands, arms, and face! I know that he is really playing and he's not actually being aggressive, probably thinking that I'm just another cat, but he definitely needs to learn that, that behavior is unacceptable. Of course, it would also be helpful if my brother got his claws trimmed every other week (I don't think he has had them trimmed for a few weeks now).

This is how my face looked right after he scratched it up:

I also captured him a few days ago once again being his usual mischievous self. He is trying to play with Muffin the Guinea Pig, who is in her cage. Muffin doesn't fear him, though she probably also knows that he can't get to her while the cage bars are separating them. I also apologize for the poor quality, I was using my crappy phone camera (BTW: The black cat curled up on the chair is Cedric).

Getting ready...

Almost...

LEAP!

It's funny because in the last picture it looks like Muffin is trying to get to Sherbet just as much as he is trying to get to her!

I'll finish this post off with a demonic-looking pic of all three animals. :)

RIP little froggy

This morning one of our little frogs passed away. Well, technically they are my brother's- he received them as part of an elementary school project over 10 years ago. My sister and I also received frogs from the same project, but ours didn't live anywhere near as long as my brother's have. In fact, mine died only within about a year of taking them home! Nothing was done differently with my brother's that wasn't done with mine and my sister's, I guess he just got some very healthy ones.

I took this video a few years ago of the frogs. And one of the little frogs in the background, not the fat one that is standing, is the one that passed. RIP little buddy!

Some cute pictures

Here are some cute pictures of the furbabies that I found on my sister's Facebook page...

Sookie lookin' pretty after just being groomed (she looks nothing like this now and is way overdue for another grooming).

What happened to your ears, Sookie??

Sookie and the cats gathering for food.

Sookie being a meanie and stealing food from Stray the cat. Stray certainly doesn't seem happy about it...

Stray must have had a hard day when this was taken.

Baby on her Scooby Doo pillow.

Sherbet curiously looking at the camera.

Sookie's chunky belly! It might be about time to put her on a diet.

On the job

So right now I am doing some overnight pet sitting. I've been here since last night, and the 'parents' will be back tomorrow. The one dog has been by my side pretty much since I arrived here; sometimes if I am going into another room, he will press his body against me and whine loudly as if he is trying to prevent me from going. He appears to have separation anxiety issues and doesn't want to be left alone, poor guy.

Here is a photo that I took of him about 15 minutes ago laying down in bed next to me (he's still cuddled up with me as I type).

There is also a little Dachshund who is adorable, though I haven't taken a photo of her yet. I'm coming back here to pet sit again later this month, so I'll most likely take one of her then.

Anyhow, I'm going to sign off now and watch a Netflix movie on my tablet with Powell (the dog in the photo). Have a good night, everyone!

Sherbet- continued

In my previous post, I had mentioned that I had not captured a recent video of Sherbet. So I had decided on that very day- well, yesterday- that I would create one. In the video, he is curiously looking at my hairless Chinese Crested, Sookie while hiding behind a vacuum.

Often when Sookie approaches him and tries to play with him, he gets a bit nervous and hisses with his back arched up and tries to hit her with his paw, then hides. However, when she walks away he will attempt to bravely sneak up on her. It's weird, I know.

Sherbet

My brother and his girlfriend have a kitten they named Sherbet, who happens to live in our house along with our four other cats (Yes, our house often feels more like a zoo than anything). They got him around 3 months ago, and it's amazing to see how much he has grown since they first brought him home. In addition, he also has become much more of a troublemaker- and a biter. We are trying to teach him that biting is a no-no, but I don't think he has gotten the point yet. Oy vey...

He was 8 weeks old when they got him, and now he is about 4 1/2 months. I included a video below that I took a few days after he first arrived, and then another one about a month or so later. I haven't taken a recent video of him yet, but you can see in the second one how much of a little mischief-maker he had become in a mere 1 to 2 months!

FYI: In the second video, he is on top of my Guinea Pig, Muffin's cage.

Cicadas & Kittens

As a dog walker and pet sitter, I have seen a few creepy creatures while on the job. I came upon a snake hiding in the grass while I was walking one dog near the woods (luckily it didn't bite either of us). However, today when I was about to enter the apartment of the same client, I came upon something much creepier near the door: a gigantic cicada (at least that's what I assume it is). As much as it freaked me out, it also caught my interest and I managed to get a picture of it (although it wasn't that difficult, as it wasn't moving around much- either it was sleeping or dying):

EEEK!

While still on the subject of the said client, I also wanted to include a picture of an adorable kitten she is fostering. She found her in a park, along with her momma and a kitten from a different litter. She appears to be a beautiful little silver tabby (as is her momma). I wish that I could take her, but there is enough chaos already in our home with our current menagerie of animals.
